I sampled the Vanilla, Toffee, Fudge flavour. Yes, all those aspects are encompassed into one bar. The Vanilla, Toffee, Fudge flavour was a creamy vanilla and fudge taste. I was pleasantly surprised. Also, the Vanilla, Toffee, Fudge flavour had a noticeable aftertaste. However, it's very common for protein bars to have aftertastes. This is because in lue of refined sugar, protein bars often have a bitter undesirable taste. Therefore, sweeteners must be added. Unfortunately, the sweeteners often leave a noticeable aftertaste, that is difficult to describe but easy to identify when eating a protein bar and most other health foods of this kind. Fortunately, unlike many protein bars on the market, ISS's Oh Yeah Vanilla, Toffee, Fudge flavour had a hardly noticeable aftertaste. Therefore, in regards to taste, I award ISS's Vanilla, Toffee, Fudge Protein Bar flavour an 8/10.
Another important factor is texture. This may seem of minimal importance, but then again, have you ever eaten a protein bar with a texture comparable to cottage cheese? NO! Of course not, because you wouldn't buy it! Anyways, I just had to get that out of my system. Onward. ISS's Vanilla, Toffee, Fudge had a crunchy nut texture which was soft, yet chewy at the same time. Personally, I appreciate a bit of crunch. However, too much of a good thing can be bad. Needless to say, this wasn't a problem with ISS's Vanilla, Toffee, Fudge Protein Bar because it had just the right amount of crunch. Also, the softness of the texture was appreciated, because nobody likes a protein bar that is a workout in itself just to chew! Furthermore, this bar did have some chew to it. That being said, it wasn't overly chewy. Therefore, in regards to texture, I award ISS's Vanilla, Toffee, Fudge Protein Bar texture an 8.5/10.
Whenever we look at the effectiveness of a supplement, it's important to take into consideration the claim of the supplement. This way, we can see if the supplement lives up to the claim. ISS intelligently keeps their claim quite simple.
Guilt free nutrition packed with milk chocolate, peanuts and caramel!
ISS's Oh Yeah Protein Bar does contain a significant amount of sugar but nothing to outrageous in comparison to other protein bars on the market.
Maybe that's hard for you to swallow. After all, you've bit on this kind of hype before and chewed your way through dozens of nutrition bars.
This is true. I've tasted some nasty protein bars in my day.
What you remember is the texture and a bitter aftertaste. Well, those days are over. Now there's one health bar that tastes so good, you'll swear it's bad for you. No kidding. It's that good.
As we discussed above, ISS's Oh Yeah Protein Bar had a desirable texture and a hardly noticeable aftertaste. There is no doubt that it's quite good. However, you're still aware you're eating a protein bar and not a snickers.
Oh Yeah! Bars are jam packed with protein and loaded with roasted peanuts. After all that it's drizzled with soft caramel and surrounded by creamy milk chocolate. One bite and you'll understand how the bar got it's name! Oh Yeah!
These bars do contain a considerable amount of protein. Just look at the ingredients. Note: I sampled the smaller bars but they come in larger sizes which contain 27grams of protein. These bars definitely encompass the soft caramel and creamy milk chocolate being described.
In this category I don't submit a rank out of 10 for effectiveness. Unlike creatine or stimulants like caffeine, protein supplements fail to elicit any immediately or quickly noticeable effects. Protein supplements are a daily routine and a long term (many years) regimen.
When we're talking taste, as you can see above, I took a particular liking to ISS's Vanilla, Toffee, Fudge Protein Bar. If you plan on eating protein bars on a regular basis, it's important to find a protein bar which contains a desirable taste. Otherwise, it's easy to fall of the "healthful bandwagon." You know what I mean. Also, as noted above, it's important to have a protein bar with a desirable texture. If it has the texture of cottage cheese or a brick, I don't think anyone would be eating it very long. In this category, ISS's Vanilla, Toffee, Fudge Protein Bar passed with flying colours. In regards to effectiveness, ISS stuck to simplicity. They had a claim that their protein bar lived up to. The outstanding downside for me was that the bar I sampled was so small L. LOL. Therefore, for an overall review, I award ISS's Vanilla, Toffee, Fudge Protein Bar an 8.25/10.
