REVIEW OF WORLDWIDE PURE PROTEIN BARS
I am attempting to review every protein bar available on the market today and so today I am reviewing Pure Protein Bars by Worldwide Sport Nutrition. I am interested in judging protein bars based on a number of characteristics such as taste, nutritional content, and value. The categories will be included below and will include details of which characteristic.
"Tired of bad tasting sugar bars that help build your love handles instead of your muscles? These bars not only taste great but they also are low in fat and carbs! 33,000mg Amino Acids! This is one bar that doesn't mess around. Five flavors to choose from."
I did not calculate the amino acid content of this bar, but it is filled with nutrients and I will discuss that below in greater detail. As for the comment that there are five flavours to choose from, this is actually not the case today because there are not SEVEN flavours to choose from which would indicate to me that the popularity of this bar has gone up as a greater selection of flavours has been created.
""I honestly believe that Worldwide's Pure Protein Bars are the secret to my lean mass gains over the last month. My friends only gained fat from the 'sugar' bars they were wasting their money on. These are also easy to eat because they taste great! Send me another 3 boxes quick!" - Customer from San Diego, CA."
This testimonial is of course a matter of opinion but I would have to agree with the positive sentiment expressed above. I am also interested in trying this product again very soon and you can read more about my thoughts on this below.
There are many flavours of Worldwide Pure Protein Bars available, listed below:
- Blueberry Crumb Cake
- Chewy Chocolate Chip
- Chocolate Deluxe
- Chocolate Peanut Butter
- Peanut Marshmallow Eclipse
- Strawberry Shortcake
While I did not try all seven flavours, I did try two of them, those two being the Chocolate Deluxe and Chocolate Peanut Butter flavours. I would rate both of them to be about equal although I would probably give a slight edge to the Chocolate Peanut Butter flavour. I think the bars were soft and chewy and had a taste which somewhat masked the healthy taste common in most health foods. It is difficult to make a healthy food item which tastes like a treat and that is what most protein bars attempt to do. I think the Worldwide Pure Protein Bars did a good job making the bars close to candy bar tasting, but were limited in the ability to do so of course and thus did not make a bar exactly like that. Overall I was very pleased with the taste of Worldwide Pure Protein Bars for both flavours that I tried and I would recommend the Chocolate Peanut Butter as my favourite of the two.
When I review a protein bar, I read the nutritional contents so that I can see whether or not the bar has met my expectations as far as protein bars and health supplements are concerned. Each bar contains a wide range of nutritional ingredients and I look over some of the major components and review them while I am less concerned with the RDA a bar would contain of an item such as Pantothenic Acid for example.
Speaking broadly, the Worldwide Pure Protein Bars contain 300 calories and that is exactly where I would like to see the overall caloric content of a protein bar to be. Of these 300 calories, 124 of these calories come from protein with the remainder being fats and carbohydrates. Each bar contains 4.5 grams of saturated fat and 410 mg of sodium. There is dietary fiber in the bar at 2 grams in total. There are a variety of vitamins in each bar which I am less concerned with, but overall I can say that the nutritional content of this bar is fairly sound with both a high level of protein and overall calories as far as protein bars are concerned which is ideal to help achieve bodybuilding related goals. The contents of this bar are more or less exactly what I would expect for a protein bar so I also rank it highly in this category.
You can purchase a box of 12 Worldwide Pure Protein Bars for $24.89 which works out to a little over $2 per bar. This price is pretty good as far as protein bars are concerned and there are bars which are both more expensive and less expensive than this one. At $2 per bar it is neither the cheapest nor the most expensive bar on the market and given the protein content and overall calories, I would say that this bar is worth the price. Some will consider it to be more cost efficient to consume cans of tuna because they may be on a budget. Alternatively, if they are going to consume protein bars, they may be more interested in less expensive ones which are available. Pure Protein Bars are by no means expensive as far as protein bars are concerned and people who consume protein bars regularly will likely consider them to be a good deal.
I tried two different flavours of Worldwide Pure Protein Bars as outlined above. I felt that both of these flavours were good but that Chocolate Peanut Butter was my favourite of the two. I felt that the bar contained what I would consider to be an ideal level of protein per bar as well as total calories per bar. I also felt that the price - while not the cheapest - was pretty fair at $24.89 for a box of 12 available at the links on this page. All in all this was a worthwhile protein bar to sample and I look forward to trying the other five flavours available on the market. I would rate this protein bar 8/10 and I am interested in trying it again at a later date.
